Individual Therapy

Paediatric Occupational Therapy combines science, creativity, and compassion to enable children to reach their full potential. At Therapy Junction, we understand that children learn best through play, practice, and exploration. Our individual therapy sessions focus specifically on the use of meaningful activities to build independence and support skill development.

Individual therapy sessions are guided by the aims and goals established following a comprehensive assessment, and in collaboration with parents and teachers, to meet the specific needs of the child. Individual therapy can support a wide array of paediatric conditions including Developmental Delays, Learning Difficulties, Social-Emotional and Behavioural challenges, Sensory Integration Disorders, Attention-Deficit Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Dyslexia, and Anxiety Disorders. The length of individual therapy varies for each child and is further determined by age as well as specific vulnerabilities, disorders, or diagnoses. An initial 6-12 month therapy period is usually recommended prior to reassessment, during which once weekly consultations are standard.

Our therapists strongly believe that continuation of therapy at home supports skill development and shortens the duration of therapeutic intervention. We work closely with families to provide home programmes and weekly activities that assist in consolidating skills, whilst fitting into family routines and modern day lifestyles.

Therapy Junction has a fully equipped sensory integration gym, a well resourced play therapy room, and a functional workspace to mimic the classroom environment. Our therapists have post graduate training in sensory integration, play therapy, and introductory DIR floortime, and combine these modalities into a holistic treatment approach for each child. If you have concerns around your child’s behaviour and development, or their performance in daily tasks and activities at home or school, you may want to consult with an occupational therapist.
